Modulating Light - The future of photonic modulation formats

29 September 2011, Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information, University of Bristol, BS8 1FD

The available bandwidth from optical fibre communications can be significantly extended with the use of advanced modulation formats. In many cases the techniques used are reapplied from those developed in RF comms. However delivering advanced modulation formats puts additional strain on both optical and electronic hardware.  This technical workshop invites discussion of the current developments in optical modulation formats and associated supporting hardware, emerging developments, characterisation and measurement techniques and standards

If you are interested in either speaking at and/or hosting this meeting please contact us

Photonics in the clinical environment

Date and location TBC

It is clear that for photonics and other new technology solutions to be widely adopted by modern healthcare providers that any new products must fit with the established workflows in the clinical environment. A new diagnostic or treatment tool that does not fit within clinical accepted clinical procedures will have a much harder time penetrating this market.

This meeting will look at some examples of clinical workflows as well as the requirements and emerging ideas for point of care diagnostic solutions using photonics.

If you are interested in either speaking at and/or hosting this meeting please contact us

On line registration for this event will be open when the program has been finalised.
